The Alba Siphon Pipeline

The Alba Siphon: 1,884m of high pressures and slopes
It is one of the main drinking water supply lines for Gijón (Asturias, Spain). Its waters are conducted to the city through a long route of valleys and hills of the Cantabrian Mountains.
- High pressure: PMA of 65 bar at its lowest point
- 554 m of elevation difference.
Key Points for Project Design and Product Selection
- Need for agile assembly to counteract the extreme environmental conditions
- Limited accessibility to the site (use of a helicopter for handling during installation)
- The pipe finishes included total coverage of the line and revegetation of the affected area for better landscape integration.
Benefits and Advantages
- Very complex scenarios with steep slopes
- Internal and external corrosion protection for all types of water and terrain
- With or without trench
- Earthquake resistant
