External Coating
to prevent corrosion from chemical attacks in the ground
Exterior protection is key to preventing iron corrosion from chemical attacks in the ground where the pipe is installed, which generates high maintenance costs and service interruptions.
There are soils with varying degrees of aggressiveness, both physical and chemical, and it is necessary to adapt to them.
Types of Coatings
Reinforced Zinc
With a 200 gr/m2 Zinc layer and a Bitumen/Epoxy topcoat in accordance with ISO8179 standard, suitable for most soil corrosion levels.
Remc
The Remc coating has a 200g/m2 zinc layer combined with a 5 mm cement mortar finish with plastic additives according to EN 15542.
Zinc Aluminum
With a Zinc/Aluminum (85-15%) 400 gr/m2 layer and an Epoxy topcoat, which improves the range of use of the ductile iron pipe by protecting it against corrosion. The zinc coating reacts chemically, healing surface damage. Zinc, being more anodic than ductile iron, generates an electrochemical cell in the presence of ground moisture. Zinc ions pass through the porous coating and produce a zinc film that covers the damaged area.
Other Coatings Available
Ceramawrap
Solvent-free and ultra-resistant epoxy coating. It is suitable for applications where high impact resistance, abrasion resistance, or extreme protection against external corrosion is required.
A protection solution especially suitable for extreme handling, such as application in No Dig technology. Both for horizontal directional drilling and for bursting.
Polyethylene Sleeve
In case greater burial protection is required in extremely aggressive conditions, an additional coating using a polyethylene sleeve is also available which, in accordance with EN545 standard, allows burial in all types of terrain. This combination enhances the anticorrosive properties of zinc and generates biocide-type environmental conditions, which maximize the protection of the line against corrosion. Warrior 100
In the case of requiring a solution for special applications, Warrior 100 is a solvent-free and ultra-resistant epoxy coating. It is suitable for applications where high impact and abrasion resistance, or extreme protection against external corrosion is required. A protection solution especially suitable for extreme handling, such as application in No Dig technology. Both for horizontal directional drilling and for bursting, Warrior 100 is the best solution.
