Júcar River Crossing
A project of great global impact
Alzira, a small city near Valencia, was the beneficiary of a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) project with unique characteristics, as it used PHD type ductile iron pipe in DN 900 with a design pressure of 25 bar.
Horizontal directional drilling: 456m of underground conduit with large diameter pipe.
Part of the route of the new nominal diameter DN 900 pipeline for drinking water supply to the Ribera region involved crossing the Júcar River, the Valencia-Alicante railway line, and an industrial building.
Benefits and Advantages
Ductile iron pipe has also been used successfully in industrial installations since the mid-1970s.
