Lok&Play® Double Chamber Restrained Joint

the ultimate expression of technological development in restraint systems

Lok&Play® double chamber restrained joints (or locking joints) are the ultimate expression of technological development in restraint systems.

It guarantees the watertightness of the joint and pipe connection even in extreme situations.

Characteristics:

  • Deflection up to 5º
  • Working pressure up to 100 bar (1450 psi)
  • Tensile strength up to 10700 KN
  • Full range of restrained fittings

Operation

The pipes are equipped with a plain spigot end with a locking bead and a bell into which the plain spigot end is inserted.

The bell (a) has two chambers. In chamber 1, the sealing chamber, the TYTON® joint (b) is housed, with which we achieve the watertightness of the joint. Chamber 2, the locking chamber, has a window – or several, depending on the diameter – onto which the locking segments (c) are inserted once the plain end or spigot of the pipe (d) is plugged in, and they slide to their position around the bell. The spigot comes equipped from the factory with a locking bead (e). Once the connection of the joint is made, the joint is locked by pulling back. Contact of a+c+e occurs, which provides a positive axial closure and prevents it from being disconnected.

Once the connection is locked, the pipeline is ready for operation and will not disconnect. This type of restraint offers a simple assembly, which saves labor and avoids any margin of error, since it has a single insertion position and converts the pipeline into self-supporting. Thus, it allows the elimination or reduction of concrete thrust blocks, as it does not require anchors at the joints, not even at the elbows.
